RockIt 2000 Pro DJ Software v3.2 - In Depth Review
RockIt 2000 3.2
The advert is pretty much for the wedding, party
and basic club jock, so we put it to the test. Download: Easy, larger than v 3.1, but comes with demo songs, skins, etc., it still only takes about 2-3 minutes on a DSL connection. About 15 MB. Install: Pretty basic, just the usual prompts for folder to put the files in, etc. Startup: Quick. It created a default library, and then asks if you want to run the demo auto mix tryout. Here's our review: Quite a few changes to this new version, although other than the skins, they may not be apparent just by looking at a screen shot. First thing we noticed, was that the computer and network folders are integrated right into the program now, so it's much easier to look through your songs if you have them in a decent hierarchy on your computer or network drives. It is still recommended that you add your tracks to their database for searching though. Second thing was lossless WAV file support. Incredible sound from the decoder engine they use. There is little tagging ability, but then WAV files have no tagging standard, so that is understandable (none of the other programs we have tested has much in the form of tagging for WAV's either). Third big change, is the addition of a sound effects rack, which not only has sound effects, but is a full blown player as well. This rig now has 4 players that can play to independent outputs at the same time. What this means to you, is that you can have four different songs, playing to four different soundcards and systems at the same time, if you want. The skins and color control have been totally redone, and you can change the color of almost anything, and make your own backgrounds if you choose. I liked the default color combo that it ships with just fine. The auto mixing has been enhanced now, and has more control over how the program responds in that mode. You can set the time to load the next track, time to start the fade, etc. These settings are checked before each song is mixed in, so you can change them at any time, and the mixing is adjusted immediately. Many new keyboard shortcuts, which according to the company, were designed to integrate external controllers (particularly the XKeys controllers). We tried it with an XKeys Pro controller, using a beta template supplied by SoftJock, and the results were very good - almost all features of the software that you would need, are available on this neat keypad. Many other little items have been updated, and, all in all, a fabulous buy for the low price. We called the support line with a few simple questions, and the programmer answered the phone, and spent about 40 minutes explaining all the details and more. Excellent support. Summary: Highly recommended! It currently holds our top rating for a good reason. Click Here to learn more about this Pro Wedding, Party and DJ Mixing Software |
